Ocean Park

As a tourist, I can say if you have kids, you have to go to Ocean Park. Located in the southern part of the Hong Kong island, Ocean Park covers over 170 acres and looks over the sea. One day is probably not enough to cover the entire park. There is much to do, including roller coasters, zoos, and an aquarium that may be seen as shocking. With so much to do, Ocean Park has something for people of all ages.
Animals lead the show at Ocean Park. The main attraction are the pandas. An-An and Jia-Jia, who were gifts from the Chinese Central government for Hong Kong's 10th Anniversary of British independence. There are also aquariums and zoos with various shows. If you are not the animal person, there are roller coasters for the hardcore riders and a cable car ride for those whose enjoy scenic views. As I have said before, there is something for everyone at this park.

Victoria Peak

Victoria Peak will get you the best view of the entire region of Hong Kong. Also known as Mount Austin or simple, The Peak, this mountain stands 1811ft above sea level over Hong Kong. Opening its tramway in 1888, Victoria Peak continues to grow with an average of 6-7 million tourists each year. From fine dining to sight-seeing, Victoria Peak has much to do.
Only way to get up this hill is through the Park Tram. The Park Tram slowly takes the riders up to the top with a full view of what the landscape of Hong Kong is really like. Once on top, one shall find Peak Tower. Inside Peak Tower is Ripley's Believe or Not, Wax Museum, shopping, and food. For those craving nature, there is the Lugard-Herleck Road Trail, which outsees all of Hong Kong's beauty.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Opened on September 25, 2005, Hong Kong Disneyland is only the 5th Disneyland throughout the world. Only being able to hold 39,000 people, it is relatively small compared to the other Disneylands. Hong Kong Disneyland is split into 4 areas, Main Street, Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. As you can see, the Disneyland from Hong Kong and Anaheim are very similar. Only 10 minutes away from the airport, Hong Kong Disneyland is convenient for both locals and tourists.
Many of our favorite rides can also be found at this amusement park, include Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters and Magic Mountain. Seasonal events include Mickey's Waterworks, which is available during summer, Glow in the Park Halloween Parade, and Let It Snow Christmans Parade. Just one of many tourists spots to come, Disneyland will not disappoint.

Foods.

In Hong Kong alone, there are over 11,000 restaurants throughout the area. Because of the huge chinese population, chinese cuisine dominates the food industry. Aside form chinese food, Hong Kong serves many different cuisines from around the world. Hong Kong is critically acclaimed for its variety of cuisines and the innovative ideas for different foods. Dim Sum (A meal that can be eaten for breakfast and lunch) and seafoods are received as the most popular foods to try in this region.
One certain thing that stands out about Hong Kong are little carts called Hawkers. My parents are natives of Hong Kong and they always reminisce on how delicious the foods in these Hawkers were. They serve snacks such as fishballs and butzaigo (pudding), but these carts are known best for their bowl noodles. In these bowl noodles, the ingredients are based from the customer. As a customer, different foods can be put in your noodles such as sausages, beef balls, and various other meats and vegetables. There is an enormous variety of food to experience in Hong Kong, and the atmosphere is like no other.

This is the chinese snacks or meal called Dim Sum.

The Geography. The Climate.

As the 179th most inhabited region in the world, Hong Kong is a particularly hilly and mountainous. As a matter of fact, only 25% of the entire territory has been developed and 40% belong to parks and nature reserves. Surrounded by the South China Sea, Hong Kong is made up of numerous areas: Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, the New Territories, and also over 200 islands. Though mainly a green environment, Hong Kong is known for its urbanization. Examples could be its skyscrapers and also its ability to adapt along with the world.
In Hong Kong, the weather depends heavily on the season of year. Like many Asian territories, the summers in Hong Kong are very humid and hot. Also, there are thunderstorms and typhoons during this time of year. Winters tend to be somewhat cold through strong winds carrying form the sea. Falls and Springs are usually dry.

Whose Hong Kong?

No, Hong Kong is not a person. Hong Kong is landmark region in China that is known by many as the "Golden Egg" for it was known as a place to easily become wealthy. Though still part of China, Hong Kong governs itself independently and economically. With a population of 7 million and with only 426 square miles, it is particularly small. Hong Kong has become an economic powerhouse through its "Low Taxation, free market, and minimal government intervention" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong) Hong Kong has now become a tourist attraction with superb shopping, great eats, and numerous leisure activities. I hope in these next few weeks to captivate minds and create pictures of this magical region through words and imagination.
